Shepherd Color announces the Copper Manganese Chromite Black 10G982. This new pigment has a jet masstone color and high tint strength. Anticipated uses for Black 10G982 are high durability and heat coatings, such as coil and extrusion, automotive, industrial, architectural, powder, and other coatings. It can also be used in glass enamels. Additional characteristics of this pigment include resistance to acids, bases, solvent, and UV, high-temperature stability, non-warping in polyolefin, and non-bleeding or migrating.

X-Rite Incorporated and Pantone LLC released the Ci7830 and Ci7630 reflectance benchtop spectrophotometers for paint and coatings, textiles, plastics, building materials, and home goods. Used as part of a digital workflow, the Ci7830 and Ci7630 can deliver the measurement precision required to communicate, share, and coordinate color-critical values and specifications across the supply chain. Both instruments bring a level of reliability, traceability, and accuracy to the digital color workflow.

The ROSS Model HSM-405SC-25 inline high-shear mixer with solids/liquid injection manifold (SLIM) technology is designed for production floors that require flexibility. Its stainless steel portable skid with built-in workbench allows the mixer to be used anywhere in a plant, eliminating the need for multiple mixers separately dedicated to each vessel or product. As an external mixer, the Inline SLIM can be piped to the recirculation loop of virtually any size vessel. The 3A-compliant machine, featuring tri-clamp connections, can be cleaned in place, but is also quick to disassemble for deep cleaning and sanitation.

AERO Sustainable Material Technology is an environmentally friendly paint film system that can replace spray-applied paint lines in new electric vehicle automotive plants. The benefits of replacing paint lines with paint film systems have been recognized earlier, but difficult to implement due to the infrastructure for traditional paint already in place. Now, with new plants being built to manufacture electric vehicles and greater emphasis on sustainability, paint film systems are becoming more realistic alternatives to paint lines.

Konica Minolta’s CM-M6 is a portable, multi-angle spectrophotometer for measuring metallic, pearlescent, and other complex automotive paints that uses a patented double-path illumination system, with directed 45° illumination, and six-angle observation, from two sides, to accurately measure painted parts on the automotive production floor.

Dürr has developed a new generation of pneumatic vertical piston pumps that increases process reliability and requires less maintenance. The EcoPump2 VP can be used in many fields, such as mechanical engineering, metalworking, woodworking, and the furniture industry. The new pump only needs one seal for most applications, and its fluid parts can be disconnected from the air motor with conventional tools via a quick coupling. With five different versions covering a pressure range from 22 to 306 bar, the pump is suitable for applying paints, high-viscosity materials, and adhesives to furniture, steel constructions, and others.

Saint-Gobain Abrasives introduces Norton Vortex Rapid Prep Non-Woven Flap Discs. The agglomerated aluminum-oxide grain technology enables the cutting power of a coarser grit, while producing a finer finish in one abrasive disc solution. The company reports that, based on tests performed, the new non-woven discs can increase material removal rates (MRR) over 50% compared to non-woven medium grit flap discs. Ideal for light blending, stripping, edge breaking, and surface prep applications in key industries, the new Norton flap discs feature special three-dimensional non-woven abrasive layers.
