Penn Color Inc.’s new Astrad™ portfolio of dispersions offers water-based, solvent-based, and UV dispersions. The series includes: Astrad-WB, a low/no-VOC, APEO-free, binder-free, water-based pigment dispersion; Astrad-UV, a sustainable solution, offering low-energy curing, wide compatibility, and various degrees of functionality; Astrad-IS, a broadly compatible acrylic resin system, with high pigment loading and optimal rheological properties; and Astrad-AUTO, available in a wide variety of single pigment dispersions covering the spectrum of automotive-grade colors, with high chroma and crystal-clear transparency.

Elementis has expanded its 100% solid urethane rheology portfolio to the U.S. market with its latest addition of RHEOLATE® PHX 7025. The range consists of the new RHEOLATE PHX 7025, which creates up to 10% more efficiency on usage as a high-shear builder; RHEOLATE 208, a solution for superior flow and leveling, as well as excellent brush drag and creates up to 18% more efficiency on usage as a high-mid shear builder; and RHEOLATE FX 1100, the low-mid-shear builder with higher film build and an alkyd-like appearance.

Ross Engineering custom fabricates tanks, pressure vessels, and reactors up to 100,000 gallons or larger that are used throughout the process industries for various manufacturing and storage functions. Pictured is a 9,400-gallon condensate receiver tank designed and built according to ASME standards for up to 5 psi at 200 °F. The tank is constructed from 304 stainless steel and includes multiple nozzles for venting, instrumentation, and discharge, as well as a 24” API manway.

Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine’s new line of Heat-Flex® corrosion under insulation (CUI)-mitigation coatings includes Heat-Flex® ACE (Advanced CUI Epoxy), which is an ultrahigh-solids epoxy novolac developed with a functional chemical enhancement for CUI mitigation. In addition, three coatings featuring a high concentration of micaceous iron oxide (MIO) pigment round out the lineup, including Heat-Flex 750, Heat-Flex 1200 Plus, and Heat-Flex 650. All four Heat-Flex CUI-mitigation coatings have passed extensive lab testing including various heat cycling, simulated CUI, BS EN 927-6:2016 erosion, and dry film thickness (DFT) tolerance testing.

DENIOS-US has produced a new full-color checklist that details the collection and disposal of hazardous laboratory waste. The practical guide includes 10 things to look for, and covers pre-work steps such as preparing a risk assessment ahead of time, trying to avoid the use of hazardous materials if suitable alternatives are available, and keeping suitable collection containers on hand (to avoid scrambling for them when the time comes). In addition to detailed descriptions, the checklist includes additional helpful links to further information on the topics discussed, and maintains a document gallery of educational, safety, and environmental content.

X-Rite Incorporated and Pantone LLC announced new capabilities to the MA-T12 multiangle, handheld spectrophotometer and the PANTORA™ desktop software that enable automotive, electronics, and durable goods customers to measure and visualize a broader range of materials, including plastics, leather, fabrics, and structured coatings. The new updates make it easier and more affordable to capture and digitize color and appearance characteristics of complex materials using one measurement device. The MA-T12 measures effect finishes and complex materials with 12 angles of measurement and a calibrated camera. This allows manufacturers to verify color, sparkle, coarseness, and surface texture.

Evonik's Coating Additives business line is expanding its TEGO® Rad range of tailored silicone acrylates with a new radically crosslinkable defoaming slip additive. The new TEGO® Rad 2550 is a clear, low-viscosity liquid that effectively reduces static and dynamic surface tension in both conventional UV- and LED-cured formulations. Key attributes include low coefficient of friction (COF), high scratch resistance, good defoaming, and the ability to create hydrophobic surfaces.
