The Benchmix® 10 compact high-shear lab mixer includes the patented Admix Rotosolver® high-shear mix head, engineered for high efficacy of wetting out and dispersing powders, eliminating agglomerates, and creating homogenous mixtures and emulsions. The Benchmix 10 is a compact, yet powerful benchtop unit with a mixing capacity of up to 1 gallon (4 liters) with mixing speeds up to 9,300 RPM.

Sun Chemical has launched Paliocrom® Satin Gold EH 3600 (L 2131), a mid-shade golden aluminum-based effect pigment with distinct satin character, high chroma, and extremely smooth appearance. As Sun Chemical’s first Paliocrom grade offered in a dry supply form, Satin Gold delivers unique color travel, excellent gloss levels, and allows for thin film thickness of automotive base coats due to the small particle size of the passivated, iron oxide-coated aluminum flake substrate. Paliocrom aluminum effect pigments can be used for modern automotive and high-performance industrial coatings.

Evonik's Coating Additives business line has developed a new tool for the digital analysis of coated test samples: COATINO® Defect Detection (CDD). It precisely and objectively detects and evaluates coating defects. Within a few seconds the system delivers quantifiable results. Using a camera connected to the computer to photograph the coated samples, the tool assesses them, using innovative image recognition methods. Coating defects are evaluated to an accuracy of a tenth of a percent and processed in a clear manner.

These self-cleaning filters screen paints and coatings, and remove oversize particles without filter elements or bags. Various-sized models are available for continuous process flow of up to 100 gpm, 400 gpm, and 2,500 gpm. Wedgewire or perforated screens of various openings are available and interchangeable, allowing one strainer to be used for multiple applications. With no bags or elements to dispose of, this technology allows users to meet their plant sustainability goals.

ROSS Ribbon Blenders, designed to minimize risk and maximize productivity, meet OSHA standards with safety shaft guards (no external moving parts) and limit switches that prevent operation of the agitator when any cover or manway is open. The safety grating can be installed on dedicated charge ports or across the entire blender opening for extra protection and to make it easier for operators to dump bags of dry raw material into the blender. The pictured 5-cu.-ft. ROSS Ribbon Blender features a special three-piece grate designed with an angled and pitched profile instead of flat surfaces.

Rhopoint TAMS™ is a new technology that models the human perception of surface appearance quality, providing new parameters that revolutionize the understanding and communication of visual appearance information. The Rhopoint TAMS records the images at different focus levels and computes the characteristics with the aid of perception algorithms. It uses four parameters to produce a comprehensive description of the visual sensation: Contrast, image sharpness, waviness, and dominant structure size (dimension).

With LiquidFlow 30M, METER MIX introduces a machine to process two-part resins for metering and mixing applications. This could range anywhere from potting and encapsulating of electronic components to bonding/sealing filter end caps. The LiquidFlow 30M is a high-precision gear pump system for low-mid range dispense rate applications where controlled and continuous material flow can be a real benefit. Two-part polyurethane, epoxy, or silicone can be processed very precisely and reliably. The in-built recipe function provides up to 50 pre-set shot sizes, flow rates, and ratios.

Arkema introduces SYNAQUA® 9511, a new performance waterborne binder for use in formulating industrial paints with reduced VOC levels (<150 g/L). SYNAQUA 9511 acrylic polyol emulsion is suitable for both topcoat and monocoat applications and can be applied on a very large variety of substrates, including general metal, plastic, glass, and wood or concrete flooring. Coatings made with these binders can help manufacturers to meet key performance targets of durability, gloss, adhesion, and chemical resistance.
